Kelly Burgmeier Bio

My name is Kelly Burgmeier. I am the Title One Reading teacher at Lincoln School. Our Title I program is a supplemental reading program designed to give an extra boost to students during their first very important years learning to read. I have always loved teaching students to read.

Title I teachers need to be specially qualified to teach this program. I have an elementary teaching, reading and language endorsements from the University of Northern Iowa and I have taught Title I Reading for two years in a previous school district, I have eight years teaching experience and fifteen years of individual tutoring in reading. I have taught in the Mt. Pleasant Community School District since 2008. I began working for the district as a special education teacher at the high school and my special education endorsement.

Our family moved to Mt. Pleasant in 2007 and quickly made it our home. We love the nearby camping and being close to family.

Websites of Interest

http://www.starfall.com/ Is a great site for kids to work on beginning reading and beyond. My own children love this site!

http://www.storylineonline.net/ This is a wonderful site to have stories read to your child by actors. My favorite is Harry the Dirty Dog.

http://pbskids.org/electriccompany/#/Home/ I use this fun site to show the vowel sounds cute videos that the kids love. When your teacher sends home what sound or word family you are working on especially for the weekly spelling lists, this is a good review.
